About Tool Goodie

Tool Goodie is a growing library of small, single-purpose online utilities — the kind of quick jobs you shouldn't have to install software or create an account for. Count some words, convert some units, format some JSON, run a quick calculation, and get on with your day.

Why we built it

Tool Goodie was created by an independent developer who was tired of the same experience every time a simple task sent them looking for an online tool: pop-ups, cookie walls, sign-up prompts, and a page so buried in ads that the actual tool was an afterthought. Worse, many of those sites quietly upload whatever you paste to a server.

We thought the basics should be better — genuinely free, genuinely private, and genuinely fast. So we started building the tools we wished existed, one clean page at a time, and put them all in one place.

How we build our tools

Every tool on Tool Goodie is hand-built, not generated from a template. That means:

• The logic is verified. Calculators and converters are checked against known reference values — a mile is exactly 1.609344 km, a kilogram is 2.20462 pounds, and our unit factors and formulas are the internationally defined ones, not approximations.
• The explanations are original. Each tool page includes a plain-language write-up of what the tool does, how it works, and when to use it — written specifically for that tool, not copied across pages.
• Nothing is uploaded. The tools run in your browser with client-side JavaScript, so the content you enter never leaves your device.

Our principles

• Free. Every tool is free to use, with no account required.
• Private. Tools run entirely in your browser. The text and numbers you enter are never uploaded to a server, logged or stored.
• Fast. No heavy frameworks and no tracking scripts slowing things down — pages load and respond instantly.
• Focused. Each tool does one job well and explains, in plain language, exactly how it works.

How it's funded

The site is supported by unobtrusive advertising, which keeps every tool free to use. We don't sell data — there's no data to sell, because nothing you enter leaves your device. You can read the details in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
